Hello! My name is Shelby Thomas. I have been teaching for 7 years. I started out as a 6th grade Math and Social Studies teacher in Mesa, AZ. I taught there for 2 years and then I made the crazy moved to Telluride in 2012. We moved here on a whim only knowing of the town from a country song “Telluride”. We feel in love. I taught elementary (4-6) math for the last 4 years at Telluride Intermediate School. We then moved to Norwood and bought a home which has landed me here. My passion for teaching came to me from coaching. Before becoming a teacher I ran and coached competitive gymnastics facility for 10years. This year here in Norwood I am the high school volleyball assistant coach. In the past I have taught volleyball, gymnastics, dance, basketball, and track in Telluride.
I was born in Texas and moved to Mesa, Arizona when I was 8 years old. I am the youngest of 3 and the only girl. I graduated with my Bachelors and Masters degree in Education from Northern Arizona University and I am currently in school at Concordia University working on my 2nd masters in Sports Coaching and Athletics Administration. I plan to graduate next fall.
I have 2 daughters (16yrs and 13yrs) that attend Norwood as well. They keep me busy year round with sports. In my free time I love to go 4x4ing with my husband and I love to hike and camp with my family. I am a very adventurous person, so whether I am jumping out of a plane or scuba diving in the ocean, I love the thrill of life.
